Keeping the Ball Rolling
Easter Season is a big deal in the church. It is one of the two times of the year that the church goes "all out," with Christmas being the other time. Why are Easter and Christmas big events in the church life? For a couple of reasons: 1) They are both celebrate important elements of our Christan faith and 2) They are the two highest attended services during the church year. People who usually don't attend church during the year, will usually go to an Easter or Christmas service. So there is usually a lot of work in the church prior and during Easter. Being my first Easter as pastor, I found myself extremely busy. Upon leaving the church after the Easter service, I felt very good about how everything turned out. Though on Sunday night, I was feeling a little relief that all the work I put in prior to Easter was over, and I can rest a little bit. So I took Monday off and went to Nyack with Melinda. Tuesday was a light day in the office, as I just cleaned and organized my office. Wednesday and Thursday were busy Starbucks days, so now it's finally time to start working.
I have to make sure that I don't fall into the post-Easter slump. It's so easy to work really hard towards a particular event, then want to coast right afterwards. I have to remember to keep the ball rolling on the ministry. I also have to make sure my batteries are charged spiritually, emotionally, and physically so I can push forward. May we never be complacent in our lives.
