Moms, Elianah, and Life

As I write this blog on Mother's Day, I must remember and give thanks to my mom who raised me in the faith. My mom was there for me, setting an example of how to live a Christian life. She continues to show her love and support for everything I do. Happy Mother's Day Mom!....

Today is also very important because this holiday celebrates Melinda's first year as a mother. I always knew she would be a great mother, but she has gone above and beyond her role. The way she loves Elianah is truly beautiful. The way she tends to the need of Elianah, while working full-time at home is remarkable. I'm out of the house everyday of the week and Melinda stays at home and joyfully takes care of Elianah. For Mother's Day Elianah and I went out to Applebee's to pick up dinner on Saturday night. We brought it back home and had a nice, quiet family meal. Last week Elianah and I spent the day at the mall and we were able to buy Melinda's present together. So I'm honored to be married to such a wonderful mother. Happy Mother's day Melinda!...

Just a few days ago, Elianah turned 6 months. Yeah, where has the time gone? She's so big, most of her clothes are all 9 months and up. What a joy it has been to play a key role in raising a little girl. I am filled with joy when I come in and Elianah has a huge smile on her face, waiting for me to pick her up. Speaking of Elianah, this Saturday (May 17th @ 4:00pm) we will be having Elianah's baby dedication. All are invited and we hope that you can come and celebrate this special day with us. The dedication will be held at the church.

We're enjoying our time at the church. We have seen God move in a lot of ways and are continuing to build relationships with people at the church. Though I do have to admit it is difficult at times. It's difficult to be bi-vocational, it's difficult to have a small budget, it's difficult to have a few core members, etc., etc., etc. We know what the ministry will look like in the future, the hard part is getting there. At times it can be overwhelming to figure out how to lead a replant, but the key for us is to be continually in prayer for God's work in the church. So if you ever think about us, please keep us in prayer. We are taking a risk and are praying for God to increase our attendance 10% every month for the next year. For some, this may seem like a small number, but for a small, declining (in the past) church, this a huge step. So pray that we seek God and God continues to bring people into our lives. I continually thank God in advanced for all the work He will do.

I'm happy today is Mother's day. I'm happy for Elianah's dedication. I'm happy that my parents are flying in on Wednesday. Life is great (except for the Lakers losing Game 4 today, plus Kobe getting injured).
