Moving
My vacation last week wasn't really a vacation. It was actually a time for us to move into the church parsonage. Moving is extremely difficult and hard on the entire family. It seems that Elianah really loves the new house because she has so much more space to run and actual stairs to climb. Dash and Jack are finally getting used to the place as we had made the garage and basement their space. Melinda and I are slowly getting used to everything, trying to unpack and get the house together while life still goes on. The most exciting aspect of the new house is our office. In our apartment Melinda's desk was in the living room where everything was going on. I didn't have a desk so I used the kitchen table or couch as my desk. Well we finally have an office! Melinda and I share an office, where we have or own desks. It's really great having our own place to work and it's really great that we can both work together in the same room. Elianah's room is next door, so she goes in and out as she pleases. If you're in our area, please drop by.
Sermon
Today our sanctuary was decorated with balloons for our new sermon series, "Party Theology." Let me explain to you the concept behind this series. The word “theology” simply means the study of God. Theology is simply applying what we know about God and his Word to our everyday life. Party theology is the concept that heaven is a party. Heaven is a party that every person in this world is invited to. Our invitation to God’s family comes through Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus Christ into our lives, we accept God’s invitation to join heaven’s party. The Bible tells us that when a sinner repents, there’s a big party in heaven for that individual. Party Theology is basically asking ourselves 2 questions: 1) Am I going to accept the invitation to the party and 2) What am I doing to bring others to the party? Our challenge this month is to invite a non-Christian to our house for a Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's party. Simple: throw a party, invite an unbeliever. Then let's share with each other stories of God moving. Subsribe to our podcast by clicking on the link above, or listen to our sermons online at http://www.carmanroadalliance.org/sermons
Elianah Turned 1!
Advent Conspiracy
What if Christmas became a world-changing event again by turning our focus back to the birth of Christ? What could happen to your family if this focus was celebrated in loud, bold and totally unexpected ways? What if you could actually trade your season of stress for a season celebration and unbelievable memories with your friends and family? What if all of this could save a life at the same time? It can. Go to http://www.adventconspiracy.org to join the cause.
