Reflecting on Father's Day

So today was my 2nd ever Father's Day. I'm not sure I have actually embraced what this day actually means to me. I love Father's Day, but have I really come to strong grasp on what this day means to me as a father? Maybe it's because Elianah is still really young and she doesn't really understand what today means either. When I think of Father's Day, I still think of celebrating my dad and other dads, instead of celebrating myself.

I'm very thankful that on this Father's Day, I got to do what I love to do best - preach the Word of God. Then I got a great lunch from Melinda who picked up some tasty ribs from Cobleskill. For dinner we went to P.F. Chang's which is much better than I remembered it (it was horrible the first time). Then Melinda finished off the night with buying me my very own camera! What a great Father's Day. I need to let this day soak in and embrace everything that comes with it.

You may ask, what about your father Tim? Now's not the time, to talk about my dad. I'll blog about my dad someday, who was such a great leader and role model for me. My dad deserves his own entire blog post.

I want to close tonight thanking two people who push me to become a better dad - Jesus and my wife Melinda. When I look at the life of Jesus in the Bible, I understand that he calls me to be something better than who I am. Jesus calls me to be great and to be an example for my family. And also thanks to Melinda who knows what kind of man I can be and who I need to become. She makes me a better person each day.
