Right now I'm sitting in the Albany airport getting ready to take a journey to California. No, this is not a vacation and this is not for work. I guess you can classify this trip as a "spiritual journey" or "spiritual getaway." I'm here waiting for my fight to Chicago (and then Sacramento) because I have an amazing wife.
A little over a month ago, Melinda saw an advertisement for the Kingdom Power Conference in Redding, CA. The conference is a special gathering of Christian and Missionary Alliance leaders who are hungry for personal and corporate spiritual empowerment. The Christian life that I live calls me to draw deeper into a relationship with God. The Christian life that I have chosen to live requires me to model my life after Jesus. The Christian life that I live allows me to tap into a spiritual power that is indescribable and amazing. I'm attending this conference because I know that there is so much more that God wants to do in me and through me. I'm taking this spiritual journey because my wife, my daughter (and future daughter), my church, my friends, my co-workers, and my community needs me to be the man God has called me to be.
My wife hates it when I'm out of the house for more than a few hours, yet alone for a few days. However, Melinda was the catalyst for this entire trip. We're having our 2nd child in June and she realizes how much our lives are going to change. As her gift to me, she wanted me to take advantage of this conference to focus on my spiritual development before Baby #2 arrives. I am grateful that my wife cares about my emotional and spiritual well-being to sacrifice 4 days without me. So for 4 days she has to work full-time, take care of our 2-year old daughter, our dog, our cat, and our house (and she's pregnant!). Not an easy feat at all. I'm going to miss my wife and daughter so much. I can't wait to see them on Thursday night when they pick me up at the airport.
I'll try to blog as I go deeper into my trip. Please wish me well and please pray for my family back in New York.
